The roast brings out a creamy bittersweetness, complemented by plump, berry-toned fruits. You’ll notice hints of berry jam and pomegranate juice (minus the acidity), though the strong bittersweet aftertaste tends to overshadow these fruity notes.
At medium roast, I catch aromas of dried fruit, cocoa powder, and a creamy, fruity scent reminiscent of a chocolate banana milkshake. The sweetness level is just right at this roast point, and any rustic notes are minimal. The wet aroma intensifies with fruited sweetness, there's a delightful blueberry note wrapped in bittersweet chocolate. The fruit flavors in the coffee can be elusive at first, but "berry" immediately came to mind. Notes of date sugar and cocoa powder round out the fruit flavors and leave a lingering aftertaste. Chocolate bittersweetness dominates, with delicious undertones of dried blueberry, date, and raisin.
